Dr. Ashish Karmacharya
Senior Software Developer / AI Specialist (external)
Dr. Ashish Karmacharya is a senior software developer and AI specialist whose work centers on semantic technologies, knowledge representation, and machine reasoning. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Science from the University of Burgundy (Dijon), with doctoral research on integrating semantic frameworks into spatial technology. Dr. Karmacharya has more than two decades of experience across academia, research institutions, and international organizations. His work spans knowledge engineering, ontology development, Linked Open Data, FAIR and CARE data ecosystems, Geographic Information Systems, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems that combine vector databases with knowledge graphs to enable explainable and context-aware AI — which he now brings to scholarly publishing at Withanage.
